Presque Isle Youth Hockey depends on fundraising to fund the cost of ice time in order to keep registration costs down. Over the summer fundraising committee, who has named themselves Power Play, kept busy hosting a variety of fundraisers. Power Play kicked off the summer selling snow cones during the TAMC Parade. At Mapleton Daze Power Play sold more snow cones, and added grilled cheese, hot dogs and even face painting. Some Power Players even made the trek to Aroostakostic music festival in New Sweden where it was ALL about baked goodies and snow cones! Caribou Cares about Kids was great with fruit kabobs, hot dogs, grilled cheese and YUMMY dough boys. At the Atoms Tournament at the Forum during Summer Ice, popcorn filled the air, along with hot dogs, grilled cheese, baked potatoes and chili. Ray makes a mean chili!!
With these efforts combined, Power Play was able to turn a $2000 profit, which all goes right to ice time for PIYH! This is $2000 that we now don’t have to pass on to our players in registration costs.
Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who made this all happen. Some special thanks go out to Paula Daigle for the use of their snow cone machine and Don Theriault for allowing us to use their yard (and electricity!) during the TAMC parade.
WOW it was a great summer!!! But our work is not done. Please consider volunteering some of your time to help out. Join the Facebook group “Power Play” to find out how!
